A rural and poor school with 630 Children grade 1 – 13 from poor families and 49 teachers use the new facilities.
School is situated in Rabukandana village, far from the Ridigama town area in North Western Province and villagers who are living here is very poor, and some parents of the children working as daily labors in coconut states and some others working on rice fields for very low salary, some females working in a garment factory in the town. Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim students are studying in this school and they had lot of difficulties in water facilities because of their pipeline is very old and not properly working, in some places the pipe lines were broken and water is leaking everywhere and they had not proper water connection for the toilets and also for the hand washing units, because of this water issue specially the female children had lot of difficulties.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Reconstruct the existing tube well, reconstruct the pump house electrical panel board and supply electrical cable, construction of low concrete water stand, reconstruct the existing water tower with hand rails and with a ladder, supply 1000L 2 water tanks, supply total new pipeline system to school and school premises and existing school buildings and existing toilets (380m long), reconstruct the existing 4 hand washing units (one unit has 6 taps) and construct 7 tap posts, Construct a rain water harvesting unit by constructing low concrete stand to keep the 10,000L water tank, painting all constructions..
Parents, teachers helped transport materials from the gate to construction sites, and help for painting.
