A marginalized community with 7 Families and 34 individuals use the new facilities.
The Mawathagama, Waraddana community resides within the 642 Waraddana Gramma Niladhari Division, which falls under the Mawathagama Divisional Secretary’s Division, located in the Kurunegala District of the Northwestern Province of Sri Lanka. The Waraddana rural community is acknowledged as one of the disadvantaged communities in Sri Lanka, with its members depending on limited local employment opportunities and earning low wages due to their lack of education.
The Waraddana Community faced inadequate access to a fundamental human necessity: safe water. Five families had to resort to using unsafe water sources within the area. Furthermore, two other families in the community also lacked access to safe water.
Realized, improved water facilities:
Construct a deep tube well to serve as a safe drinking water source, erected a steel water tower to support a new water tank with a capacity of 1000 liters, Installed a new water pipeline system stretching approximately 45 meters from the tube well to two water collection points, counted a 1000-liter water tank on the steel water tower, built two water lines for community water collection
Family members help for the constructions.
