A poor school with 110 children grade 1 – 11 from fishing families and 14 teachers use the new facilities.
School is situated in Dungalpitiya fishing village, closed to Pamunugama town area in Gampaha District in Western Province and villagers who are living here is very poor and they are catholic families and some families speaking Tamil, and parents of the children working as fishermen in ocean and some are fishing in lagoon and some parents are daily labours, here the ground water is salty, and they have road pipeline connection but they don’t have proper water system to the school, they have only tap point for the whole school. They are struggling for sanitary facilities and proper water system for many years, because they don’t have money solve the prevailing issue. Most of the fishermen families living together nearby the ocean and they depend on daily income and they are the poorest families in the Dungalpitiya village.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Construction of 7 latrines and 3 urinals in one building, reconstruction of 2 latrines in one building, construction of concrete water tower, supply 2.000L water stock tank, supply total pipeline system to school and school premises and existing school buildings and existing toilets, construction of 4 tap posts, repair the existing silver hand washing sink, painting the school main hall (120’long and 20’ wide) and all constructions.
Parents, teachers helped with labour work for constructions.
