A rural and very poor school with 746 Children grade 1 – 13 from poor families and 36 teachers use the new facilities.
School is situated in Galgammulla village, far from the Kuliyapitiya Town area in North Western Province and villagers who are living here is very poor, and some parents of the children working as daily labors in bricks factories and some others working as farmers in rice field in Kuliyapitiya area. In the dry season no water for drinking and also for cleaning toilets, every year in dry season they are struggling for water more than 6-7 months because of the hard rocks in the ground after about 5 meters, specially affect for female children and teachers for their hygiene, and some days they have to walk for water to the lake.
Realized, water and sanitation facilities:
Water place investigations, construction of open dug well (10 feet wide 22 feet deep we had to use dynamite to brake about 4 feet hard rock to dug the well), construct a well cover, construct pump house, reconstruct the existing main water tower with handrail to keep their existing 2000L water tank, construct a low concrete water stand to keep the existing 500L water tank, supply total pipeline system to school and school premises and existing school buildings and existing toilets, supply electricity cable and panel board, construct 4 concrete hand washing units (1 unit has 4 taps), 5 tap posts, repair the existing 4 silver hand washing sinks, painting all constructions, Etc.
Parents, teachers help to carry materials from the gate to construction sites, digging for the pipe line, to make the well and painting.
