A rural and poor school with 800 Children grade 06 – 13 from low income families and 40 teachers use the new facilities.
The school is situated in Diyabeduma village, where isolated and rural area, far from the Polonnaruwa city area in North Central Province, and all the teachers who teach in this school have to travel far away from the city to the school daily. We realized that they were struggling with no water facilities and they had not proper water delivery system in this school for many years therefore they have to face many difficulties in dry season.
Majority of the Parents are very poor, most of the parents are working in paddy fields and and some others working in rice mills as daily labours, few parents working in governmental organizations, most of the parents education background is very poor and their family life style is very poor.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Water place investigation, construction of deep tube well, construction of a pump house and supply under water pump, supply electrical panel board and electrical cable, construction of iron water tower 20 feet high, supply 2000L water tank, total pipeline system for the school premises and for the all sanitary buildings, construct 1 hand washing unit (1 unit has 3 taps), construct 3 tap posts, repair 1 hand wash unit, repair an existing iron water tower, paint all our constructions.
Parents and children help: transport materials from the gate to construction sites, digging and fixing for the pipe line and digging the toilet pits.
