447. St. Sebastian Church, Pre-school and 20 Tamil families (Uva Prov)

A rural and isolated Catholic church and preschool with 55 children and 3 teachers, and 20 Tamil families with 58 members from very poor families, use the new facilities. Majority of the parents, working as daily labours in Haldummulla and Diyathalawa city in Uva Province. The church and the preschool is situated in Haldummulla village and it is situated in rural area and far from the main city of Diyathalawa in Uva Province.
They had no proper drinking water and water for sanitation purpose for last 20 years. They have taken water from nearby places. We identified a water source which is in 65 meters below the preschool and church and the community it is very steep place to reach for the water source. (Total distance from the source well to water stock tank in church is about 270 meters long)
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Construction of a source well (1.5 meters wide 1.7 meters deep and cover with concrete slab), construct a pump house and electrical panel board, supply an electrical cable 240 meters long, construct concrete pillars to lay the pipeline, construct a low concrete water tower with handrail, construct a wall to protect the source well, total pipeline system 270 meters long from the source well (by covering the PVC pipes with GI pipes), Supply a underwater pump, Supply a 5.000L water stock tank, construct 1 hand washing unit and 3 tap posts, prepare a separate water tap to get water for the 20 Tamil families in the village, paint all constructions,
Supply new water pipeline to the sanitary buildings in church to consume water for the Sunday school children and also for the pilgrims who are coming to the church.
Parents and community people help with labour for constructions.
