A rural and poor school with 280 children grade 1 – 5 from low income families and 06 teachers use the new facilities.
The school is a mix one, Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim students are studying in this school and this school is situated in isolated and rural area and far from the city in Central Province. In dry season there is no water at all, all the wells get dry and no water for drinking and even for cleaning purposes. This school is situated in 5 height levels in land and school with villagers are struggling for water many months in every year, especially for cleaning and sanitary purpose.
Majority of the Parents working in a tea states for their family income and some others do daily labor these villages have very low income.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Construct a new source well by constructing a dam (15 feet long) and river bank for both side (18 feet long) to stock water, construct stone wall for the protection of well in rainy season, construct another wall for filter the water, construct a low concrete water stand to keep 2 water tanks, supply 2.000L stock tank and 1.000L water tank to the school, total pipeline system from source well to school and school premises, construct 1 hand washing unit (one unit has 4 taps), construct 2 tap points for the school, supply water connection for 60 families, paint all our constructions, Etc…
Parents and villagers helped to bring materials from the gate to construction sites, digging and fixing for the pipe line and painting.
