A rural and very poor Muslim school with 144 Children grade 1 – 11 from poor families and 16 teachers use the new facilities.
School is situated on Galpoththa village on a top of a rock mountain, very far from the Nawalapitiya city area in Central Province and villagers who are living here is very poor, and some parents of the children working as daily labors in tea estates and vegetable farms and some others working as daily labours in the Nawalapitiya city and there are no any government servants in this village. They have community water supply but in the dry season no water from the community pipeline, No drinking water and no water for cleaning toilets, every year in dry season they are struggling for water more than 6-7 months and some days they have to walk to the river for water.
Realized, water and sanitation facilities:
Bring water from the mosk through the pipeline (350m long) nearby school, reconstruct the existing 10000L concrete water stock tank, construct an iron water tower with hand rails, supply 2000L water tank, supply total pipeline system to school and school premises and existing school buildings and existing toilets, construct 4 hand washing units (one unit has 4 taps), 6 tap posts, painting all new constructions and existing toilet buildings. We supplied trees for the school for planting and they make a fruit and herbal plant garden in the school premises.
Parents, teachers helped to carry materials from the gate to construction sites, digging for the pipe line and laying and painting.
