A rural and poor Tamil primary school with 70 Children grade 1 – 5 from poor families and 7 teachers use the new facilities.
School is situated in mountain area in the middle of a tea estate (Halgranoya tea state), far from the Ragala town area Walapane District in Central Province and villagers who are living here has very low income, and some parents of the children working as daily labors in tea estates in the village. In the dry season no water for drinking and also for cleaning toilets, especially for the small students and the teachers struggling for sanitary needs. They had very old pipeline system with water leaking,
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Construct new 3 latrines and one building with 4 urinals, construction of new pipeline system for the entire school, construct 1 hand washing unit (1 unit has 4 taps), 3 tap posts, painting all new constructions.
Parents and teachers helped to carry materials from the gate to construction sites, digging for the pipe line and laying and painting.
