A poor school with 1.426 children grade 1 – 13 from poor families and 63 teachers use the new facilities.
School is situated in Pitipana fishing village (Islet), nearby Negombo town area, Gampaha District in Western Province and villagers who are living here is very poor and they are catholic families and they are Tamil speaking community, and parents of the children working as fishermen. Here the water is salty, they are struggling for sanitary facilities and clean water for many years, because no facility to stock water and they do not have proper toilet system for the school. Most of the fishermen families living together and all their houses are in one land nearby the ocean and they depend on daily income.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Construction of 4new latrines, construction of a pump house and electrical panel board, supply 5.000L water stock tank, construction of 2 low concrete water stands, supply total pipeline system to school and school premises and existing school buildings and existing toilets, construction of 5 hand washing units (one unit has 4 taps), 5 tap posts, extend the pipeline for the school playground for 3 tap posts (so that the outside children can get the water for drinking while they are playing in the evening), painting all constructions.
Parents, teachers help with labour work for constructions.
