A rural and poor school with 90 Children, grade 1 – 5 from low income families and 8 teachers use the new facilities.
The school is situated in Amilagama village it is isolated and rural area, and far from the Haldummulla city. In dry season there is no water in all around the village and wells, and no water for drinking and even for cleaning purposes. This school is struggling for water many months during the year, this is a terrible situation. We found private community water pipeline system more than 1Km away from school,
Majority of the parents working in chena cultivation farms for their family income and some others do daily labor, these villages are very poor.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Construct a new low concrete water stand with hand rail (3meters long and 2.5meters wide), Supply 5000L plastic water stock tank, supply water pump/electrical panel board/ electricity cable, reconstruct 2 latrine and the roof of the latrine made with concrete including handrail to keep the water tank, supply 1000L water tank, total pipeline system for the school premises, construct new 4 washing units (1 unit has 4 taps), construct 3 tap posts, paint all our constructions, etc…
Parents and children help: transport materials from the gate to construction sites, digging and fixing for the pipe line.
