Rural school with 340 children grade 1-13 from poor families and 36 teachers make use of the new facilities.
We are still in the tea plantation, very poor families who earn a living by picking tea leaves for a low salary. This school is divided into 5 levels in terms of ground height, this makes the pipeline extra complicated/expensive.
The existing pipeline from the mountain source is more than 40 years old; a lot of leakage through broken and rusty pipes.
Daily the oldest schoolboys repair the pipes with old rubber bicycle tires, a never ending job.
To realize, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Reconstruction source well, well cover, source water by gravity through new 400 m pvc/iron pipeline from source well to the school, low concrete water tower, ring pipeline at school to buildings and sanitary, 5 concrete washing units (1 unit has 4 taps).
Parents and children help: transport materials from gate to construction sites, digging for the piping.
