A rural school with 726 Children, grade 6 – 13 from very poor families and 74 teachers use the new facilities.
The school is situated in isolated rural area from Walhaputhenna village in Uva Province. The school building situated in 5 land levels, in dry season all the wells get dry, this school is struggling for water many months during the year and they have no water for drinking and cleaning purpose, this is a terrible situation for students and teachers.
Majority of the Parents working in vegetable farms for their family income and some others do daily labor these villages are very poor.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Construct 3 low concrete water stands in 2 land levels with steel hand rail and for other land levels we connect the pipeline for existing water tanks and repair the concrete floor for the tanks, Total pipeline system for the school premises 615 meters long and used GI pipes for 15 meters for protection of PVC pipes, Supply 2000L new 2 plastic water tanks, construct new 6 sinks (one unit has 4 taps), 6 tap posts, connect the pipeline to existing school 2 science labs, cadet building, 2 home science buildings and toilet buildings and to the school teachers quarters, in school, paint all our constructions, Etc… .
Parents and children help: transport materials from the gate to construction sites, digging and fixing for the pipe line.
