A poor and rural Preschool with 144 Children grade 1 – 5 from poor families and 6 teachers use the new facilities.
Poonagala No. 3 Tamil School is located in the Poonagala Tea Estate of the Haldummula Divisional Secretary’s division in the Badulla district of the Uva Province. The school atmosphere consists of a local Tamil community and is said to have commenced in the year 1939.
The villagers who are living here is very poor, and some parents of the children working as daily labours in vegetable farms and tea states. There has been no sufficient water supply for many years, especially during the dry period, which sometimes lasts for 6 to 7 months. This scarcity has significantly affected the availability of safe drinking water and the maintenance of sanitation in the school. Consequently, the school community has had to bring water from sources outside, sometimes located more than 100 meters away.

Reconstructed of the available water spring which is located 400 m away from the school
water place investigations and water quality testing, fixing well cover, make a pipeline from source well to school (400m long) and supply total pipeline system to school and school premises and existing school buildings and existing toilets, construction of 3 hand washing units (one unit has 4 taps), construct 3 tap posts, painting all constructions.
Parents, teachers helped for some labour works.
