Rural school and separate preschool with totally 131 children grade 1-9 from poor Tamil families and 12 teachers make use of the new facilities. Villagers who are living here are very poor. Some parents of the children working as daily labours in tea states and others working as daily labours in Ella town. This school in the tea area, is divided into two levels in terms of ground height. In the dry season for 7 months no/or limited water, they bring some water with a lorry to use for the highly necessary. At 850 m there is an old well in the valley. School has permission to use this well.
Realized, water and sanitation facilities:
Totally reconstructed the old well (make deeper), construct an underground stock tank across a natural water source to stock the water from the source. Construct well cover, electricity cable, pump house with control panel, construct 2 low concrete stands and totally covered one stand with steel net, pump water up to the highest place in the school premises (850 m long) and distribute water from their for the school buildings (school is situated in 4 different land levels), extend the water supply for the primary school too, construct 1 tap post for the community, total pipeline system to the school premises, supply 1.000L water tank, construct 3 hand washing units (1 unit has 4 taps), construct 4 tap posts, paint all our constructions.
Parents and children help: transport materials from gate to construction sites, digging for the piping.
