A rural and poor Tamil school with 192 Children grade 1 – 11 from poor families and 14 teachers use the new facilities.
School is situated on very far from the Nawalapitiya city area in Central Province. People living here is very poor, and children’s parents working in tea states no one working for government sector. There is no water at all in the dry season, No drinking water and no water for cleaning toilets, even no water for whole village in dry season, they are struggling for water more than 6-7 months in a year, and they do not have idea how to pump the water to school where the community pipeline is under 60 meters down from the school. The constructed pipeline is 200 meters long from the road pipeline to school.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Connected to the road pipeline, construct a low concrete water tower with 5000L stock tank with handrail, construct a pump house at the same place, made total electric panel board, and supply 350 meters long electrical cable, (between the school and the water stock tank the height difference in 12 meters) supply water pump, supply 1000L water tank, construct a low concrete water tower with hand rail in the highest place in the school, construct total pipeline system around the school premises and connected the pipeline to the existing toilet buildings, construct 4 tap points, reconstruction of 3 latrines, construct 2 sinks (1 unit has 4 taps), (this school is built in 3 land levels) painted all our constructions.
Parents and children help: transport materials from the road to construction sites, digging for the pipe line and fix.
