A school with 240 Children, grade 1 – 5, and 19 teachers use the new facilities.
The school is situated in isolated rural area and far from the Gampola city area in Central Province. Since last 5 years they had not permanent water system. In dry season there is no water at all, all the wells getting dry in community nearby the school area and no water for drinking and even for cleaning purposes. This school and community is struggling for water many months during the year, this is a terrible situation.
Majority of the parents working as daily labors for their family income, these villages are very poor.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Construct a new stock tank by using a natural water source 3 meters long 2.40 meters wide 1.20 meters deep which is situated in 800 meters away from the school (school is situated 30 meters low from the source well), made a steel cover for the stock tank, construct 2 low concrete water towers with hand rail, total pipeline system for the school premises and connect the same pipeline for 7 families around the school area, construct a new 3 washing units (one unit has 4 taps), construct 4 tap posts, paint all our constructions, etc…       
Parents and children help: Unload the materials from truck and community people help for transport materials from the gate to construction sites, digging and fixing for the pipe line.
