366. School Nawapallegama (NCP)

A rural and poor school with 155 children, grade 1 – 11 from low income families and 17 teachers use the new facilities.
The school is situated in Pallegama village and it is isolated rural area and far from the Polonnaruwa city area in North Central Province. They have old open well but there is no enough water. In dry season the well totally get dry and they are struggling for water about half of the year that dry season they do not have water for drinking and cleaning toilets. They have to walk for water nearby places.
Majority of the parents working as fisherman in lakes, and chena cultivation farms for their daily income and some others work as daily labors in north central province area, these villages are very poor.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Construct a deep tube well (60 meters deep), reconstruction of water tower with ladder and handrail (10 meters high), supply 2000L water tank, construct a pump house and electrical panel board electrical cable 200 meters long, supply electrical underwater pump, total pipeline system for the school premises and for existing toilets and school buildings, construct new 3 washing units (1 unit has 4 taps), construct 4 tap posts, paint all constructions, etc…
Parents, teachers and children help with labour for constructions and bring materials to construction site.
