A rural and very poor primary school with 131 children, grade 1 – 5 from very poor families and 9 teachers and preschool use the new facilities.
The school is situated in dry zone area in Serupitiya village and it is isolated rural area and far from the main city area in Uva Province. They have deep tube well but in dry season well get dry and quality of the water is changing. This school is struggling for drinking water during the dry season.
Majority of the parents working in vegetable farms and chena cultivation farms for their family income and some others work as daily labors all-around in the Uva province.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Make more deeper and clean the existing tube well, repair a latrine, supply 1000L water tank, construct a pump house and electrical panel board, supply new electrical cable, supply electrical underwater pump, total pipeline system for the school premises and for existing toilets and school buildings, construct new 2 washing units (1 unit has 4 taps), construct 5 tap posts, one tap post for outside from the school to get the water for community, extend the pipeline to preschool, paint all constructions, etc…
Parents, teachers and children help with labour for constructions.
