A rural and poor school with 74 children, grade 1 – 5 from low income families and 8 teachers and 2 families of teacher’s quarters use the new facilities.
The school is situated in Diriyagama village and it is isolated rural area and far from the Bibila city area in Uva Province. In dry season school well get dry and no water for drinking and even for cleaning purposes. This school is struggling for water many months during the 2 times per year, at least 6 months, this is a terrible situation.
Majority of the parents working in vegetable farms and chena cultivation farms for their family income and some others do daily labour, these villages are very poor.
Realized, improved water and sanitation facilities:
Water place investigation, reconstruct a deep tube well, water quality and quantity check, construct a pump house and electrical panel board, supply new electrical cable 100 meters long, supply underwater pump and 1000L water tank, construct a new iron water tower 4 meters high with ladder and handrail, reconstruct an old open well, well cleaning and made well cover (well water used for drinking purpose only), total pipeline system for the school premises and for existing toilets and school buildings, water supply for school teachers quarters, construct new 3 washing units ( 1 unit has 4 taps), construct 3 tap posts, paint all our constructions, etc…
Parents help: transport materials from the gate to construction sites, digging and fixing for the pipe line.
