A poor and rural school with 122 Children grade 1 – 5 from poor families and 8 teachers use the new facilities.
CP/Siri Parakumba Primary School is located within the Weligodawaththa Grama Niladhari
Division, nestled within the administrative bounds of the Pasbagekoralaya Divisional
Secretary’s Division in the Kandy District of the Central Province. It serves as an educational
Hub for a rural, underprivileged student community around Weralugashinna village. The parental community of the school is identified as low-income, predominantly comprising unskilled laborers.
There has been an insufficient water storage system for many years due to a lack of resources. This issue has significantly affected the availability of drinking water and the maintenance of sanitation in the school.
Realized, water and sanitation facilities:
Renovated six existing latrines, supply 1000L water tank, construct low concrete water stand to keep the 5000l water tank and construct the hand rail, supply total pipeline system to school and school premises and existing school buildings and existing toilets, construction of 2 hand washing unit (one unit has 4 taps), construct 3 tap posts, renovated existing silver wash basin, Painted all new and renovated/reinstalled constructions with high-quality paint.
After the safe water facilitating project, implemented by the Kansarmen S L Foundation, was gifted to CP/Siri Parakumba Primary School, it now enjoys water, sanitation, and hygiene resources, not only enhancing well-being but also supporting quality education.
